Activities and hands-on learning demonstrate applicable tools to regulate emotions and decrease stress and anxiety.
Bodies were a buzz right off the bat during our ice-breaker scavenger hunt where participants were paired off to find medicinal herbs planted throughout the property. They learned how plants such as jasmine and lemon balm can boost mood and alertness combatting feelings of depression and sadness. We harvested small clippings of these sacred teacher plants to make into a plant bath together.
Back in our workshop space we dropped down into some individualized practices of intention setting, drawing animal spirit cards to see what kind of teachings our animal allies can offer, and setting up our own sacred space using art materials and items from nature. Participants learned about the hierarchy of emotions and why it is important to experience the range of emotions, but not get stuck in low vibration for too long. We examined how powerful self-talk, words, and thoughts are helpful in staying in high vibration. After all that learning they busted out in a spontaneous jam session using our drums and singing bowls. Pure love and magic!
Next, we headed to the Lovey Station! Participants made their own lovey to take home stuffed with lavender and hops to help with calming and peaceful vibes when they need it most. Here is one little lady letting her lovey help her through a deep night's sleep.
Leaving in squeals of laughter they commented that they couldn't wait to come back. Texts came from parents commenting, "My daughter had a great experience and wants to do more in the future!" "Her journal was amazing!" "Are you going to offer adult classes?!" When asked if they would use any of these practices in their lives outside of the workshop, one six year old wrote, "I think I will use the one where when your body gets mad or sad. I will go to my peaceful zone."
